We carried out experiments to test a range of materials in order to find out if they were transparent or opaque. During our activities we discovered some items were translucent! It was intertesting checking to see if our predictions matched the results.
Our problem solving focus this month is "Find a Pattern." Today, our challenge was based on shapes. We really enjoyed representing the patterns with cubes. Miss Radcliffe thought we worked so hard and we answered her questions using proper explanations. We are super problem solvers!
Last year during Maths Week, one of our pupils suggested that all the boys and girls should surround our school to see if they could form a chain around the perimeter. Today, we were only too happy to oblige! It was lots of fun working in one big team with all the other classes.
We loved going to the Maths Roadshow that Mr McCoy organised for us! We took part in lots of fun challenges and developed our problem solving skills. We can't wait to go again next year!
We visited Tesco on the Antrim Road for our "Explore the Store" trip. Gail set us challenges when in the shop; we had to locate fruit & vegetables in a range of colours and find out their origins. We were also lucky enough to sample lots of yummy, healthy treats! Finally, we got to go inside the staff areas; within the huge fridge and freezer as well as the bakery where we sealed bread rolls!
We were delighted to see some of the chilren's grandparents in school on Friday! After having tea / coffee & sweet treats in the hall, as part of our Macmillan Coffee Morning, they popped into our classroom for a quick chat and some photos. Thanks to everyone who came. It was lovely to see you all.
As part of our learning in TWAU and our topic "School's Cool" we interviewed Mrs Rainey. We asked her lots of questions to find out more about her job in Seaview PS. She told us many interesting things, including her favourite part of her job; seeing all the boys and girls around school with happy faces ❤️😄
